| Nidri, on the East coast, is the largest and most
popular tourist resort on Lefkas. Despite this Nidri is relaxed and
friendly, and the olive groves and countryside are never more than a few
hundred metres away. The recently improved Nidri harbour area is lined
on one side by restaurants and on the other by yachts and day trip
boats. This busy resort has good beaches and provides a good base for
exploring the rest of Lefkas. Vlicho is a waterfront village
approximately 2 km South of Nidri. It has a very long waterfront and a
harbour which are very well sheltered, which is why it is popular with
yachts. Vlicho provides a good base for those who prefer to be a little
away from the bustle of Nidri, but close enough for a good night out.
Geni is a peninsula opposite Nidri and Vlicho. It is quiet and low
key, but only a few minutes drive from Nidri. On the East side of Geni
is a beautiful bay called Desimi, which has a lovely beach and a few
friendly tavernas. |
