| Lefkas Town (also known as Lefkada Town) is situated in
the North East of Lefkas Island, where the island is connected to the
mainland of Greece by a causeway and bridge. Preveza airport is about 20
minutes away, and it is approximately 4 hours drive to Athens. It is
the island's capital, and about half of the population of Lefkada lives
there. Unlike the holiday resorts, Lefkas Town is open all year and has
a lot of supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants which are open
throughout the winter.
Because of the demand for land and houses here by the local
population prices tend to be higher than other parts of the island. Un
recent years the demand for property in the area has also risen as a
result of the new marina, and the new bridge near Patras which has
considerable shortened the journey time from Athens. |
